To stretch or not to stretch????

3 weeks long I will be my own guinea pig

I am 32 years young
I have been doing multiple sports for more then 25 years
I have been training martial arts for more then 15 years.
I have been teaching martial arts for almost 12 years
I have been a physiotherapist for almost 10 years
I have been a personal trainer for almost 4 years
And more…..

With all these things I have always been taught that it’s very important to stretch.
Different people and different sports give different reasons for stretching like decrease the risk of getting injury, to relax muscles, to increase range of motion, etc.
But there are also enough people who say you shouldn’t stretch because it will actually increase your risk of getting a injury.
With martial arts it’s important that one is at least a bit flexible, especially if one is to do competition. Over the years I found out a new way of stretching which I think works better, quicker and safer then the conventional way.
I have taught this way to numerous people and also the effect that it have on them and their results.
Now I want to take this to the next level by making instructionsmaterial (e-book, video and audio) so not only people who live in my neighbourhood can experience this and reap the effects.
I will also interview class people from different industries to ask their opinion about the benefits or not about stretching and their favorite stretching techniques for their sport and/or work-out.
But before I do this I will use myself as a guinea pig for 3 weeks.
Siebinga method vs Conventional way
My whole left side I will stretch every day with the SIebinga method.
My whole right side I will stretch every day using the conventional method.

These are the measurements I am using while doing the stretching
Flexibility of all the muscles and joint (objective)
Heart rate while stretching left side vs right side (objective)
Energy level before, during and after while stretching left side vs right side (subjective)
Balance before and after while stretching left side vs right side (objective)
Ability to hold breathing before and after stretching left side vs right side (objective)
Level of strain/heaviness of my body/muscles and joints while stretching left side vs right side (subjective)
Level of power in my muscles while stretching left side vs right side (objective)

My hypothesis is that after 3 weeks my left side will have more increased in flexibility then my right, lower heart rate while doing the left side stretching then right side, left side will have a better balance, more power, less heaviness and strain, better ability to hold my breathing after stretching the left side then the right side and that I have more energy after the stretch on my left side then my right side.

My way will not only give you faster results in the short term, I also believe it will do your body less harm and in the long shot makes it easier for your body to maintain the training and health.
I believe its also possible to make your comfort zone bigger by staying in your comfort zone, not by being outside of it.
During my 3 week research I will post videos and articles regarding stretching and training. If you have any thought, opinions, etc
Please feel free to share
